INDIGENOUS BRIDGES YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
Board Member Hanford McCloud of the Nisqually Tribe discusses the importance of international Indigenous youth exchange
The Indigenous Bridges Youth Ambassador Program (IBYAP) consolidates our organization's decades of experience, resources, and connections into a results-oriented Indigenous Youth Leadership Development Program. IBYAP seeks to address the critical challenges contributing to the disappearance of Indigenous culture, language, and wisdom: The growing Divide and Decoupling between the Youth and the Indigenous Knowledge-Keepers within their communities. IBYAP empowers the next generation of leaders from Indigenous Communities to become Problem-Solvers who will generate solutions for Revitalizing their Communities. From their efforts, they will be the Environmental Guardians of their Communities.
The Program provides Mentorship from Indigenous Elders to ensure that our Youth Ambassadors become the Keepers of Indigenous culture and wisdom. Progress will only work for everyone when it is grounded in the traditional principles of living in harmony with the Earth. The gains of progress are worthless when we need to lose our identities to achieve them.
